This reduces flares and ghosting in adverse conditions, such as backlight, resulting in clear and high-contrast images. The lens features a circular aperture that allows point light sources, like illumination and water sparkles, to be rendered as soft, circular blurs.

With a 32mm focal length equivalent to the 35mm format, this wide-angle lens is ideal for everyday snapshots. The newly designed optics match the characteristics of digital imaging, and the lens is just 25mm thick with a 32mm hood. The pan-focus effect created by the 35mm format equivalent focal length makes it well-suited for general-purpose photography.

The lens features a high-quality aluminum exterior, with the barrel, hood, and cap all made from machined aluminum shavings. This gives the lens a solid, premium feel. The optical system uses a hybrid aspherical lens with a floating mechanism, which is unique to this limited lens. This design delivers high-contrast, three-dimensional portraits and clear images with excellent resolution across the frame.

Designed to fit the CCD image circle size of 23.5mm x 15.7mm, this is a simple lens with no aperture ring. It features a special SP coating that is water and oil repellent, making the lens surface stain-resistant and easy to clean, effectively protecting the lens.

The lens offers seamless AF/MF switching thanks to the Quick-Shift Focus System. After focusing with AF, you can immediately turn the focusing ring to MF without the need to switch between operations. Filters can be attached without changing the length of the lens, as the lens is designed to accept 43mm filters on the inside of the hood, or 49mm filters directly on the lens.

When used with a 35mm film SLR, the image will not be cropped around the edges. The Pentax Digital SLR Camera K Series is equipped with in-body stabilization, which expands the limits of handheld photography with this lens.
